Black Girl Genius Educator Summit 2025
September 6 | Skillman Foundation – Detroit | 12:00–6:00 PM
Theme: Defying Gravity
The Black Girl Genius Educator Summit isn’t just about education—it’s about healing, reflection, and reimagining. It’s a space for Black women educators, cultural workers, and youth leaders to come together, not to perform professionalism, but to do the soul work of becoming the kind of adults Black girls need.
Together, we’ll confront the wounds of our own girlhoods. We’ll reflect on the shifts we must make in our practices. And we’ll co-create a vision for classrooms and school communities where Black girls are safe, celebrated, and free to experience joy and genius every single day.
This year’s theme, Defying Gravity, is a call to rise despite the weight of white supremacy, misogynoir, and the everyday policies and practices that try to hold us down. In a world that seeks to humble Black women and girls and stifle our magic, we fly.
This is not traditional PD. This is collective healing. This is imagination-as-resistance. This is how we build the future Black girls deserve.
Registration opens Summer 2025
